Quick Answers

How do you calculate the value of 1 MCX lot?
Lot value = price × lot size. For a contract with a lot size of 100, a price of 71,500 makes 1 lot worth 71,50,000 in contract terms.
What is a tick and how much is it worth?
A tick is the smallest price step the exchange allows for that contract. Tick value = tick size × lot size, so a 1-tick move changes the position by exactly that amount.

The Formulas

Units = lots × lot size. Contract value = units × price. Tick value (on one lot) = lot size × tick size. P&L = (exit − entry) × units, and the reverse on a short position.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is tick value calculated?

Tick value = lot size × tick size. That is the rupee value of one tick of movement on one lot. For the whole position it becomes lots × lot size × tick size. On this page both figures are shown.

What is contract value?

Contract value = lots × lot size × price. It is the value of the goods carried by that position. It is not margin — margin is set by the exchange and the broker, and it is not on this page.

How is P&L computed?

On a long position, P&L = (exit − entry) × lots × lot size. On a short position it is the reverse: (entry − exit) × lots × lot size. Brokerage and taxes are not included.

What does "does not sit on a tick" mean?

A price moves only in whole multiples of the tick size. If the difference between entry and exit does not divide evenly by the tick size, no trade can happen at that price. The page states so instead of showing an arithmetic that looks perfectly correct.

How current are these specs?

They are as of the date stated above (22 Sep 2026). The exchange revises contract specs from time to time. That is why both the lot size and the tick size are editable, and there is a "Custom" route as well.

Are the numbers I enter sent anywhere?

No. The whole computation happens in your browser. No number goes to any server and nothing is saved anywhere.
