EquityX intraday tips
What you get with our intraday tips
Researched intraday calls from a SEBI registered investment adviser, each with a complete plan before you enter.
- i.
1 to 3 calls on active days
Intraday calls for the NSE cash market, Nifty and Bank Nifty options, stock futures, index futures and MCX. On weak or unclear days we send fewer calls, or none.
- ii.
Call first, entry later
The call comes before the entry price is reached. For example, the price is at ₹96 and the call says buy above ₹100, so you usually get a few minutes to place your order calmly.
- iii.
Entry, stop-loss and 3 targets
Every call carries one stop-loss and three targets, so you can book part of the quantity at each target. All intraday calls are closed the same day.
- iv.
Quantity calculated for your capital
Each call tells you how much to trade for your capital and risk profile, so you do not have to guess the lot size or the number of shares.
Our segments
Choose your intraday segment
Every segment follows the same call format: entry, stop-loss, three targets and a quantity for your capital.
Call format
How an intraday call looks
Every call follows one simple format. The card shows an illustrative example with a hypothetical stock.
Calls reach you on the EquityX web app and Telegram. WhatsApp delivery is available on request. Place the stop-loss as soon as you enter, and book part of the quantity at each target as the call advises.
Choose your segment: intraday cash market tips, Nifty and Bank Nifty option tips, stock futures tips, Nifty futures tips or MCX tips. Not sure which plan fits? See plans by capital.
How to read a call
- Entry above
- The call becomes active only when the price crosses this level. If it never crosses, there is no trade.
- Stop-loss
- Place it as soon as you enter. It limits the loss on the trade.
- Targets 1, 2, 3
- Book part of the quantity at each target, as the call advises.
- Quantity
- Worked out for your capital and risk profile.
- Exit
- Every intraday call is closed the same day.

Market timings
An intraday trading day at a glance
Know the clock before you trade. These are the standard timings for NSE and MCX.
Timings follow exchange rules and can change on special days.
Key takeaways
- Intraday trading means every position is opened and closed on the same day.
- Decide entry, stop-loss, target and quantity before you place the order.
- Learn one or two strategies well instead of trying every setup.
- No strategy works every time. Keep losses small and planned.
01What intraday trading means in India
In intraday trading you buy and sell (or sell and buy back) a stock on the same day. You do not take delivery, and every position is closed before the market closes at 3:30 pm.
Most traders use the MIS product type, which gives intraday margin. Every trade pays brokerage, STT, exchange charges, GST and stamp duty. Intraday equity gains and losses are treated as speculative business income for tax.
The intraday trading tips in this guide are for traders who are starting out on NSE stocks. They focus on how to plan a trade, which setups to study and which habits to avoid. They are general education, not advice on any particular stock.
02Top 5 intraday trading tips for beginners
Most intraday trading tips for beginners come down to a few habits. If you follow these five on every trade, you avoid the mistakes that end most beginner accounts.
Trade only liquid stocks
High volume and tight spreads let you enter and exit near your price. Stocks in the F&O segment are a good starting list.
Plan before you press buy
Write down the entry, stop-loss, target and quantity. If the plan is not clear, skip the trade.
Trade with the market, not against it
Most stocks follow Nifty during the day. Buying weak stocks on a falling day is a common beginner mistake.
Take one or two quality trades a day
More trades mean more charges and more emotional decisions. Wait for your setup.
Square off before your broker’s cut-off
Intraday (MIS) positions are closed by the broker shortly before 3:30 pm. Exit on your own terms before that.

035 intraday trading strategies explained
These are common setups that intraday traders study. They are explained for learning only. No strategy works every time, and every trade needs a stop-loss.
1. CPR (Central Pivot Range) strategy
CPR is three levels worked out from the previous day’s high, low and close: the pivot (H + L + C) ÷ 3, the bottom central pivot (H + L) ÷ 2, and the top central pivot (2 × pivot − bottom). Many Indian intraday traders mark it before 9:15 am. Read more in CPR explained.
- Setup
- A narrow CPR (often seen before trending days) and price opening clearly above or below it.
- Entry
- Buy when price holds above the top CPR line and the next candle turns up; sell when it holds below the bottom line.
- Stop-loss
- Back inside the CPR: below the bottom line for a buy, above the top line for a sell.
- Avoid when
- The CPR is wide (often a sideways day) or price keeps moving in and out of it.
2. VWAP pullback
VWAP (volume-weighted average price) shows the average price paid during the day. In an uptrend, price tends to stay above it. Read more in VWAP explained.
- Setup
- Price trading above a rising VWAP, with higher highs and higher lows.
- Entry
- Buy when a pullback holds near VWAP and the next candle turns up.
- Stop-loss
- Below VWAP or below the pullback low.
- Avoid when
- Price keeps crossing VWAP up and down; that means no clear trend.
3. Support and resistance
Previous day high and low, round numbers and pivot levels act as zones where buyers or sellers step in. Check today’s Nifty support and resistance levels.
- Setup
- A clearly tested level, marked before the market opens.
- Entry
- Buy a bounce from support after a reversal candle, or a close above resistance with volume.
- Stop-loss
- Just beyond the level you are trading.
- Avoid when
- Price is stuck in the middle of the range, far from any level.
4. Moving average pullback
On a 5-minute chart, a rising 9 or 20 period moving average often acts as a moving support on trend days.
- Setup
- Strong trend, price above a rising moving average.
- Entry
- Buy when price pulls back to the average and resumes the trend.
- Stop-loss
- Below the recent swing low.
- Avoid when
- The average is flat and price is moving sideways.
5. Gap-up and gap-down days
When a stock opens far above or below the previous close, the first minutes are often volatile. See the gap up and gap down stocks today.
- Setup
- Stock gapping on news or results, with high volume at the open.
- Entry
- Wait 15 to 30 minutes. Trade only if the gap holds (gap-and-go) or clearly starts to fill.
- Stop-loss
- Beyond the high or low of the first 15 to 30 minutes.
- Avoid when
- You feel the urge to chase the opening candle.
How to practise a strategy before using real money
Pick one strategy and study it on past charts of three or four liquid stocks. Mark every setup you see, where you would enter and where the stop-loss would go. Then paper trade it in live markets for at least 20 trades.
Track three numbers: how often the setup works, your average loss when it fails and your average gain when it works. A strategy is worth trading only if the average gain is clearly bigger than the average loss, after charges. If it is not, change the rules or drop the setup.
04How to pick stocks for intraday trading
Good intraday trading starts the evening before. Build a short watchlist of five to ten stocks, mark their key levels and decide which setup you are waiting for. A stock that fits the checklist below gives you room to enter and exit at your price.
- High average daily volume and tight bid-ask spread
- Part of the F&O segment (usually more liquid)
- Clear levels from the previous day or week
- A reason to move today: news, results or a sector trend
- Not stuck at the upper or lower circuit
- Moving with, not against, the Nifty direction
Before 9:15 am, check the pre-market report, FII and DII data and Bank Nifty levels. For a daily shortlist of stocks to study, see intraday stocks for today.
05Order types every intraday trader should know
| Order | What it does |
|---|---|
| MIS (intraday) | Product type for same-day trades. Uses intraday margin; the broker squares off open positions before the close. |
| Limit order | Buys or sells only at your price or better. Useful for entries at a planned level. |
| Market order | Fills at the best available price right away. Fast, but the price can slip in fast markets. |
| Stop-loss (SL) order | Becomes active when the trigger price is hit. Use it to place your stop-loss as soon as the entry fills. |
| Cover / bracket order | Places the entry with a stop-loss (and in some cases a target) together. Not every broker offers these. |
Order types and square-off times differ between brokers. Check your broker’s rules before you trade.
06Indicators beginners use for intraday trading
VWAP
The day’s volume-weighted average price. Above it, buyers are in control. VWAP explained.
Moving averages
Smooth out price to show the trend. The 9 and 20 period averages are common on 5-minute charts.
RSI
Measures momentum on a 0–100 scale. Use it to spot stretched moves, not as a buy or sell signal alone.
Bollinger Bands
Bands around a moving average that widen and narrow with volatility. A squeeze often comes before a big move.
Indicators support a plan; they do not replace one. Compare them in our guide on the best indicator for intraday trading and learn to read price with the candlestick patterns guide.
077 intraday trading mistakes to avoid
Most intraday losses come from a few repeated habits, not from one bad trade. Check yourself against this list every week.
Our intraday risk management guide explains how to set a stop-loss and a daily loss limit.
08A simple roadmap for beginners
- Weeks 1–4
Paper trade
Pick one strategy and note every trade on paper, with entry, stop-loss and result.
- Month 2
Start small
Trade liquid cash stocks with a small quantity and one trade a day.
- Every week
Review your journal
Check if you followed the plan. Fix the rule you broke most often.
- Later
Move to F&O slowly
Only after months of steady discipline. Leverage makes every mistake bigger.

Intraday tips and trading: FAQs
Is intraday trading profitable?
It can be for disciplined traders, but many beginners lose money. Results depend on your strategy, stop-loss discipline, position size and charges. No one can promise returns.
Can I buy 1000 shares intraday?
Yes, if you have the funds or margin. But the quantity should come from your stop-loss and the amount you are ready to risk, not from the margin available.
What is the maximum profit or loss in intraday trading?
There is no fixed limit. It depends on position size, leverage and how far the price moves. A stop-loss is what keeps the loss within your plan.
Is intraday trading good for beginners?
It is not low-risk. Start with paper trading, then a small quantity in liquid cash stocks, and move to F&O only after you trade with discipline.
Which is the best strategy for intraday trading?
There is no single best strategy. Many beginners start with CPR levels or a VWAP pullback. Learn one, test it and follow its rules every time.
How much money do I need to start intraday trading?
You can start with a small amount to learn. If you want to follow our cash market calls, we suggest at least ₹1 lakh.
Do you give 100% accurate intraday tips?
No. No SEBI registered adviser can promise 100% accurate or sure shot intraday tips. Some calls will hit the stop-loss. Read why sure shot tips do not exist.
Is intraday trading safe?
It is high risk because prices can move sharply within minutes. You control the risk with a stop-loss on every trade, a small position size and a daily loss limit.
Are intraday tips suitable for beginners?
Only if you start slowly. Learn the basics in this guide and paper trade first. Then follow calls with a small quantity. The quantity in each call already follows your risk profile, and you do not have to take every call.
How do I start, and what happens after I pay?
You fill the risk profile form, we check suitability, and we send you the advisory agreement and complete your KYC. After you sign the agreement you make the payment. We then create your user ID and password, and calls reach you on the web app and Telegram.
Can I share your calls with friends or a group?
No. Calls are for your personal use under your advisory agreement. Sharing them with others is not allowed.
Someone on Telegram or WhatsApp is using the EquityX name. Is that you?
Only if it is one of these. Our only WhatsApp number is +91 95999 69624, our calling number is +91 94038 91719 and our official Telegram channel is t.me/equityxindia. We never promise fixed profits, and we take fees only after you sign our advisory agreement.
Do you serve traders in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other cities?
Yes. The service is fully online, so traders anywhere in India can join, including Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai and Delhi. Calls come on the web app and Telegram, and support is in English and Hindi.
