A stock’s first price of the day is called the open. Its last price of the previous day is called the close. A gap forms when the open differs from the close. If the open is above that close it is called a gap up; if it is below, a gap down.
The volume ratio is this session’s volume divided by the average volume of the previous 20 trading sessions. A ratio of 2x means twice the average volume traded that day.
