Quick Answers
- What is the CPR formula?
- Pivot = (High + Low + Close) ÷ 3, Bottom Central (BC) = (High + Low) ÷ 2, and Top Central (TC) = 2 × Pivot − BC. Width = TC − BC.
- What counts as a narrow or wide CPR on this page?
- On this page a width below 0.15% of the pivot is written as narrow. Above 0.50% is wide, and anything between the two is normal. These 2 thresholds belong to this page, not to any exchange rule.
- Is TC always above BC?
- Not by the formula. In the 1 case where BC comes out above the pivot, TC falls below it. This page then swaps the 2 when displaying them, so Top is always the upper number.
The CPR Computation
Pivot = (High + Low + Close) ÷ 3. Bottom Central (BC) = (High + Low) ÷ 2. Top Central (TC) = 2 × Pivot − BC. Width = TC − BC, and its percentage = width ÷ Pivot × 100.
Width Classification — With the Thresholds
A width below 0.15% is narrow, above 0.50% is wide, and anything between the two is normal. These three thresholds belong to this page. They say only how close together the Pivot and its TC/BC were in the previous session. They say nothing about what follows.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is CPR?
CPR (Central Pivot Range) is a set of three numbers derived from the previous session High, Low and Close. Pivot = (High + Low + Close) ÷ 3. Bottom Central (BC) = (High + Low) ÷ 2. Top Central (TC) = 2 × Pivot − BC.
How is the CPR width calculated?
Width = TC − BC. To state it as a percentage of the pivot: width ÷ Pivot × 100. This page shows both numbers — in rupees or points, and as a percentage.
What are the narrow, normal and wide thresholds?
On this page a width below 0.15% is written as narrow, above 0.50% as wide, and anything between the two as normal. These three thresholds belong to this page — they are not an exchange rule or a standard. They say only how close together the Pivot and its TC/BC were in the previous session. They say nothing about what follows.
Is TC always above BC?
Not by the formula. When BC comes out above the pivot, TC falls below it. This page then swaps the two when displaying them, so that "Top" is always the upper number. Otherwise the label would contradict its own figure.
Are CPR and pivot levels different?
Both are built from the same raw material, and the Pivot is the same number in either. Pivot levels derive R1–R3 and S1–S3 around the pivot. CPR instead gives just three numbers: one above, one in the middle, and one below. It also shows the narrow range between them.
Are the numbers I enter sent anywhere?
No. The whole computation happens in your browser. No number goes to any server and nothing is saved anywhere.
